Srinagar, December 2

Even as the tourists are yet to return to Kashmir Valley in good numbers after the lifting of security advisory the authorities are planning to hold fresh roadshows and promotional events in 17 different cities/ circuits to bring back visitors.

The shows have been planned from the third week of December till mid February to woo tourists in the winter months. “We are planning to hold various promotional events in 17 cities/ circuits namely Mumbai-Pune-Nasik, Ahmedabad-Baroda-Surat, Nagpur-Indore-Bhopal, Bengaluru-Mysore, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar-Puri, Chennai-Kotchi and Ranchi. The promotional campaign will start from the third week of December till the second week of February,” said an official of the Tourism Department. “We are hopeful that tourists will come in good numbers in the winter months through these roadshows and promotional events. A good number of tourists usually come around the New Year’s time and when ski resort Gulmarg remains covered in a blanket of snow,” he said.

Prior to revoking Article 370, the government had issued a security advisory for tourists and Amarnath yatris asking them to curtail their stay in the Kashmir valley. — TNS
