Srinagar, December 7

The Directorate of School Education, Kashmir, has come up with guidelines for the operation of winter camps and tutorials across Kashmir.

The winter camps started by the directorate will start functioning from December 11 in the designated centres across all districts.

“The identified centers should have all facilities which include best teaching facilities, proper heating, seating arrangements, projectors, etc,” the government advisory said.

The guidelines stated that there should be periodic review of teaching-learning process to evaluate the performance in all centres.

Officials said one-time heating charges ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 400 would be taken from the students depending on their classes.

The timing for the winter camps has been fixed from 11 am to 4 pm. The government teachers whose services will be used in the camps will be paid incentives as per the rules.

Scheme started by Mufti Sayeed

The free winter schooling initiative was started by former CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in 2015. In the first year, nearly 1,60,000 students benefitted by the initiative.

Chief Minister’s Super 50

For another initiative known as Chief Minister’s Super 50, more than 5,000 students appeared for the screening test last week. Its classes will begin soon and nearly 1,100 students will get free coaching for national competitive exams like JEE and NEET by trained government teachers in all districts.
