International School, Kashmir, located in Baghat, Srinagar, organised a three-day summer camp for students at tourist spot Gulmarg. “Students were taught surviving skills as they trekked through the forests of Gulmarg,” said an official from the school. The camp was organised for students of classes VI to IX. With summer at its peak in Valley, a number of private schools have organised summer camps for the students.
10-day workshop kicks off at KU
The department of social work, University of Kashmir (KU), organised a 10-day workshop on research methodology in social sciences, which started on the campus on Monday. The inaugural function of the workshop was held at Gandhi Bhawan and was presided over by Prof Nilofar Khan, officiating Vice Chancellor. In her presidential remark, Nilofar Khan stressed the importance of learning research techniques by active participation of research scholars in such events. The keynote address was delivered by Prof PC Joshi, head, department of anthropology, University of Delhi. He emphasised the need for evidence-based research in social sciences. The workshop would focus on the basics of research.
