The Congress on Thursday claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will find no takers in the state during the next elections as it had unceremoniously broken its coalition with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

During a party meeting held here, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president GA Mir said the saffron party would not find any takers in the state, especially in the Jammu region, after its decision to “topple” the previous coalition government unceremoniously.

Stating that the “unholy alliance was destined to break anytime” as the PDP-BJP coalition had “compromised on the urges and aspiration of the people for the sake of power”, Mir blamed both parties for political uncertainty in the state.

The meeting was attended by former minister Taj Mohiuddin, JKPCC vice-president Mohammad Anwar Bhat besides MLAs Mohd Amin Bhat and Gulzar Ahmad among other party leaders.

Meanwhile, a delegation of anganwadi workers met Mir at the party headquarters and brought to his notice issues faced by them vis-à-vis enhancement of their monthly wages.

Assuring the anganwadi workers and helpers of the party’s full support, Mir urged Governor NN Vohra to address their grievances.
