Security stepped up at Vaishno Devi shrine

KATRA: Police have sounded high alert at Vaishno Devi shrine and stepped up security a day before the country celebrates 70th Independence Day.

Police have sounded high alert at Vaishno Devi shrine and stepped up security a day before the country celebrates 70th Independence Day.

“Security at Vaishno Devi and Shivkhori shrines have been stepped up given existing security situation in the state. Police have started long-route patrolling jointly with the Army for area domination at high ridges,” Reasi Superintendent of Police Nisha Nathyal.

Police have installed joint check posts with the Central Reserve Police Force at several places. Quick response teams have been stationed around the district, the officer said.
