Cong wins in K’thala, Sultanpur Lodhi

Candidates of the Indian National Congress (INC) were victorious in the Nagar Council Kapurthala ward number 2 and Nagar Council Sultanpur Lodhi ward number 9 bypolls that were held today.

Additional District Election officer-cum-ADC (Development) Kapurthala Avtar Singh Bhullar said from the Nagar Council Kapurthala ward number 2, Munish Aggarwal defeated Kavita Bajaj of the Shirmani Akali Dal by 1,292 votes. Of the total 1,552 votes polled, Munish Aggarwal got 1,417 votes and Kavita Bajaj got 125 votes, while 10 votes went to NOTA.

From ward number 9 in Sultanpur Lodhi, Jatinder Pal Singh of the INC defeated SAD candidate Mandeep Kaur by 491 votes. Of the total 680 votes polled in the ward, Jatinder Pal Singh received 583 votes and Mandeep Kaur got 92 votes, while five votes were polled to NOTA.

While 66.23 per cent votes were polled for ward number 2 in Nagar Council Kapurthala, in ward number 9 in the Nagar Council Sultanpur Lodhi, 76.57 per cent votes were cast.
