To facilitate candidates in getting nomination forms and certified voter lists to file their nominations for the General Elections, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma has asked the election staff to remain available in the office during the weekend.

The Deputy Commissioner, who reviewed the arrangements for the nomination process which will start from Monday, said the office was open today and would remain open tomorrow too to facilitate candidates.

He said the candidates could get forms for the nominations and approved voter lists on these two days. Sharma said the staff of the election tehsildar had been asked to perform this duty and assure that candidates desirous of filing the nominations did not face any problem.

He said all arrangements had been finalised for the nomination process to take place on all working days between April 22 to 29. The nomination fee could be deposited by the candidates on the spot as special staff had been deputed for the purpose. CCTV cameras had also been installed in the District Administrative Complex (DAC) to keep a strict vigil on any violation.

“Video surveillance teams would also be deputed in and around the DAC to ensure that no violation of the model code of conduct takes place,” he said, adding that the videography of the entire process of the nomination by the candidates would be conducted to ensure complete transparency in the process.
