Harassed for compromise, youth commits suicide

HOSHIARPUR: A 22-year-old youth of Arya Nagar, Mukul Mankotia alias Appli, son of Arun Kumar committed suicide here on being troubled by the accused who were involved in stealing gold from his house.

A 22-year-old youth of Arya Nagar, Mukul Mankotia alias Appli, son of Arun Kumar committed suicide here on being troubled by the accused who were involved in stealing gold from his house.

The accused were reportedly threatening him for a compromise in the theft case pending in court. He was found lying unconscious after he had swallowed celphose on Saturday evening. The family admitted him in the hospital for treatment late night, where he was declared dead.

On the basis of the complaints of his father, the Sadar police have started investigating the matter by registering a case against the two accused, being charged of abetment to suicide. According to the information, Appli was found lying unconsciousness near Shiva temple on the Chintapurni Road late Saturday night.

Her mother, uncle and younger brother reached the spot and immediately took him to a private hospital from where he was referred to the Civil Hospital. Due to lack of ventilator in the Civil Hospital, he was sent to a private specialty hospital in the city where Mukul died on Sunday. Mukul was the son of famous Bollywood and Pollywood drummer Arun Kumar Mankotia. Arun Mankotia told the police that 250 gm of gold was stolen from his house in 2015.

This case is pending in the court. He alleged that the accused of the case repeatedly threatened Mukul for compromise because of which Mukul was under stress.

On the basis of the statement of Mukul’s father Arun Kumar, two accused Sandeep Kumar of Sukhiabad and Varun Kumar of Premgarh have been booked under Section 306, 506 and 34 of the IPC.

The post mortem of the body will be done on Monday.
