Light & sound show on Guru Nanak Dev’s life draws crowd

A digital light and sound show dedicated to the 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev was held this evening on the grounds of Lyallpur Khalsa College (LKC).

The digital museum was already set up on October 15 while one show of light and sound was shown to the public today and the other one will be held tomorrow at 7 pm. The show was jampacked with the audience. It was also attended by MLA Chaudhary Surinder Singh, Divisional Commissioner B Purusartha, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and principal of the college Gurpinder Singh Samra.

The 45-minute light and sound show depicted colourful visual presentations, ultra-modern laser techniques and unique acoustics from 7 pm to 7:45 pm and 8:30 pm to 9:15 pm. The show was based on the life and journey of Guru Nanak Dev.

The outdoor show unfolded into a multiple part story, immersed in a beautiful symphony of colourful visual projections, advanced lasers — all led by a creative soundtrack. It beautifully projected Guru Nanak Dev’s philosophy in the form of his universal message to society.

Through the show, the ethos of tolerance, peace, communal harmony, women empowerment and protection of natural resources were brought alive. Guru Nanak Dev’s efforts to promote social equality were also aptly showcased to the audience.

Talking to this correspondent, Harjit Kaur, an elderly who especially came from Bhogpur to have a glimpse of this first-of-its-kind show, said such shows should also be organised in villages and rural areas.

She appreciated the efforts of the government and said people should learn from the life of the first Sikh master as he showed the right path and direction to all human beings.

“The show would also be held on Thursday on the same ground as a humble and befitting tributes to Guru Nanak Dev by the state government. The entry for the mega event was free so that the eternal message of humanity as preached by the Guru, along with his life and philosophy, was disseminated among the masses”, said Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar.
