Pulse polio drive from March 10

JALANDHAR: The Heath Department would observe a three-day National Immunisation round of pulse polio from March 10 to 12.

The Heath Department would observe a three-day National Immunisation round of pulse polio from March 10 to 12. As many as 2.46 lakh children between the age group of 0-5 years would be administered pulse polio drops.

To spread awareness among the general public about the campaign and to apprise them of the polio booths, Civil Surgeon Dr Rajesh Bagga flagged off a rickshaw rally today from his office.

He said the rally would visit various areas of the district where announcements would be made to keep residents updated about the pulse polio campaign. He informed that polio vaccine drops would be administered to all children between falling in the age group of 0-5 years in all blocks of the district.

The Civil Surgeon said as many as 1,076 booths would be set up in the district, including 592 in rural and 484 in urban areas. Dr Bagga said: “A total of 81 mobile teams, including 49 in rural and 32 in urban areas have been constituted for the campaign and 23 transit teams for vaccination and 209 supervisory teams have also been constituted.”

He said the teams would administer polio drops to children in 5.34 lakh households. The teams would also cover 165 brick kilns, 232 slum areas, 31 construction sites and other areas during the three-day drive.
