A driver crashed his SUV into electric poles first and then into the walls of two houses at the roadside here in Urban Estate Phase II on Tuesday midnight around 2 am after he (driver) lost control over the vehicle.

As per the information from the residents of the locality, the driver who was drunk banged his SUV into the transformer of the main electricity lines, then into the walls of two houses and finally hit a Maruti car on November 6. They also said that within a few minutes, the driver went missing with the number plate of the vehicle and is still at large.

As per residents, the man driving the SUV was a son of a VIP and he was not driving his own vehicle. The SUV belonged to his close friend. The residents requesting anonymity said although no causality occurred, it was a major accident as the owners of the house suffered a lot of loss. They said the accident was not highlighted or brought into limelight since the son of a VIP was involved.

Meanwhile, when contacted, SHO Division Number 7 Onkar Singh Brar confirmed that accident took place on Tuesday night, but he said the person driving the car was known to the owners of the house and belongs to the same locality. He said a compromise was made on the spot, therefore no case has been registered.
