Keshav Suri (L) and Cyril Feuillebois

Each love story comes with its own possibilities and challenges. As did Keshav Suri’s and Cyril Feuillebois’; the former, executive director of The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group, and the latter, the founder of Kronokare, an eco-friendly cosmetics brand. And, when the two met, the connect was instant. Sharing lives for 10 years, when they finally decided to formalise it in Cyril’s home country, France, they also waged a war to legitimise the rights of LGBTQIA community in India and emerged stronger. This Valentine’s Day, Keshav Suri bares it all.

Your first meeting and the moment you both realised it is meant to be?

I distinctly remember it was the summer of 2008 — June, when Cyril and I met for the first time during a party at The Lalit, New Delhi. We both felt an immediate connect.  Immediately after, Cyril went to Goa and I followed him. One day, Cyril hired a Vespa and asked me to join him for a ride. I was apprehensive, but our eyes met and I could easily trust him. It was in Goa, where we realised that this was meant to be.

What’s been being together for a decade like?

It’s been addictive…. a roller-coaster ride with lots of laughs, fun moments, and some happy tears. We can make each other laugh and that is priceless to both of us.

How was it to share with parents and publically acknowledge it?

My parents always taught us to be fearless and honest. Raised with these qualities, I knew I could not let my life be a lie. I told my parents immediately after my graduation. Having their support, public acknowledgement was no issue.

How has wedding changed the equation?

We have had surreal ceremonies; it has been an emotional and liberating experience. My mother, Cyril and I worked hard on all the events – each making the other happy and ensuring everyone’s wishes were taken care of.

How has love for each other changed your outlook on life?

Cyril’s love for me has definitely added a sense of purpose in my life. The way he understands me and channelises my energies is remarkable.

What’s the best that you enjoyed together?

With Cyril by my side, we transformed into world explorers.  In these 10 years, travelling has been our constant companion. However, I have to admit that over the years, we have graduated from being adventure junkies to planned leisure travellers.

What’s the most romantic thing that Cyril has done for you?

The proposal was magical in December, 2017. Cyril and I were in Paris. One evening, we took a boat ride on the river Seine. We reached the Eiffel tower and exactly when it lit up, Cyril proposed. Then, during our Goa celebrations, he gave me the most beautiful surprise – a performance on our song, Somewhere Only We Know by Keane.
