Parents of 3-year-old Harnoor Kaur, a student of Sacred Heart School, BRS Nagar, went through a nightmare on Wednesday as she got left behind in the school bus and driver locked the vehicle and parked it near the Civil Hospital.

Manjinder Singh, girl’s uncle said, “From the Civil Hospital onwards, some children, including Harnoor are taken to interior areas in vans. When the van reached outside our home, the driver said ‘apna baccha lai lo’ (take your child). But Harnoor was nowhere. Then he asked us to check with the bus and driver.”

“We went there, and did not found Harnoor. Then Gurpreet Singh, a cop from Division No. 2 police station came and told us that the girl was safe and was sitting nearby,” he said.

“Gurpreet told us that the girl was crying profusely in the bus and he managed to pull her out from a window after asking her to open it from inside,” he said.

Bhupinder Singh, father of the girl lodged a complaint at Division No. 2 police station against the bus driver.

Manjinder said, “Schools wash their hands off by saying that the transport doesn’t belong to them, but it is ultimately the school, which has arranged transport facility for students.”
