Artificial limbs given to needy

LUDHIANA: A free artificial limb distribution camp was organised by the Ludhiana Vishal Lions Club in collaboration with the Bharat Vikas Parishad Charitable Trust, Punjab, at Viklang Shayata Kendre today.

A free artificial limb distribution camp was organised by the Ludhiana Vishal Lions Club in collaboration with the Bharat Vikas Parishad Charitable Trust, Punjab, at Viklang Shayata Kendre today.

Calipers, try-cycles and hearing aids were distributed among 20 physically challenged persons at the camp.

Members of the club were impressed with work done by the trust in providing aids and appliances to the physically challenged persons and assured all help for the noble cause.

Suman Gupta, secretary of the trust, said the trust had organised 1,307 camps since 1996 where artificial limbs, calipers, crutches, tri-cycles and hearing aids were provided to more than 54,756 physically challenged persons.

The trust had also organised a polio surgery camp where 2,675 polio operations were successfully carried out.

Rajnish Goyal, president of the club, said they had been organising eye, diabetic and dental check-up camps for a long time besides distributing school uniform and utility articles to needy children.
