Eid-al-Adha celebrated with gaiety in Ahmedgarh

MANDI AHMEDGARH: Eid-al-Adha, also known as Bakrid, was celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety by all sections of the Muslim community in the town and surrounding Muslim-dominated localities.

Eid-al-Adha, also known as Bakrid, was celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety by all sections of the Muslim community in the town and surrounding Muslim-dominated localities.

While preparations for the festival began many days ago, formal celebrations commenced with mass prayer (Namaz) held at Idgahs and mosques of the region early in the morning.

Ulemas, leaders and preachers of the community lead the enthusiasts while praying for communal harmony and universal prosperity.

Members of other communities, including Hindus and Sikhs, greeted their Muslim friends and associated with the celebrations.

Appreciating the gesture of office-bearers and activists of various social, religious and constitutional organisations on the occasion of the festival of sacrifice, Islamic leaders led by Municipal Council President Suraaj Mohammad and councillor Mohammad Issa Khan said Muslim leaders of the area had vowed to work for strengthening social ties with all sections of society.

Muslims around the world believe that the Allah commanded Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ishmael. Ibrahim followed God’s orders, but his son was replaced by a sheep at the last moment.

Clad in beautiful attire, men, women and children visited various localities to greet their friends and relatives today. Before and after offering prayers at Idgahs and mosques, the rich gave alms to the poor and eedee to children.
