GMT School register 7-wicket victory over PAU Centre

Ludhiana, June 27

Back to back fine batting display by Mandeep helped GMT Senior Secondary School, Jalandhar bypass branch, beat PAU Centre by seven wickets to emerge winners in the First BCM Academy Premier Cricket League (U-16) that concluded at BCM Senior Secondary School ground, Sector 32 here today.

Mandeep scored 62 runs off 54 balls to steer his team clinch the issue. On Sunday, in the last league match against Shri Guru Ram Rai School, Shivpuri, Mandeep had smashed 83 runs in 42 balls to enable his team qualify for the final.

In the final, PAU Centre, batting first, scored 154 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. The main contributors were Vansh Mukand (40), Sehajpreet (34) and Manas Shukla (25).

For GMT School, Vivek was the most successful bowler, securing five wickets for 39 runs in four overs. Pankaj grabbed two wickets for 19 runs in four overs while Munish claimed one wicket for 25 runs.

PAU Centre failed to defend the score as GMT School surpassed the total in the penultimate over after losing just three wickets.

Besides, Mandeep, other notable scorers were Munish who made 54 runs in 45 balls and Rishi scored 19 off 11 balls.

For PAU Centre, Saransh Ohri captured two wickets after conceding 11 runs in two overs and Abhinandan got one wicket for 29 runs in four overs.

Vivek of the winning side was declared the man of the match. He was also adjudged the best bowler for securing 16 wickets in five matches, whereas his schoolmate Himanshu was named the best wicket keeper and Mandeep was declared the best batsman as he scored total 202 runs in the tournament.

For his overall fine performance, Munish was adjudged the best all-rounder.

Krish Igea and Shashi, Director and Regional Manager, respectively, of Pro Sports gave away prizes to the winners. Dr DP Guleria, Principal of BCM School, was the guest of honour on the occasion.

Coaches Anil Kumar, Dr Davinder Singh and Keshav were among others present there.
