Goods worth lakhs destroyed in fire at unit on Hambran Road

LUDHIANA:A major fire broke out at a hosiery unit on Hambran Road around 2:30 pm today.

Ludhiana, December 17

A major fire broke out at a hosiery unit on Hambran Road around 2:30 pm today. Stocks worth lakhs were reported to have been destroyed by the fire.

According to information, the fire broke out at Shakti Enterprises, Hambran Road. Four fire engines were pressed into service. But the firefighters were continuing with their efforts to control the fire when the reports last came in around 10:30 pm.

One of the firefighters said the exact cause of fire couldn't be ascertained. Two or three families reside on the factory premises and it is believed the fire was caused by their negligence. 

Meanwhile, no casualty was reported in the fire. Prince, owner of the factory, said he had suffered loss worth laks in the fire.
