The Dehlon police have booked a man for allegedly killing his wife. The accused has been identified as Banti Singh of Kila Raipur and deceased as Ramandeep Kaur.

He tried to portray it as a suicide case and hanged the body from the ceiling fan before informing the deceased’s parents, but close investigation by the police foiled his attempt and booked him for murder.

Dehlon SHO Sukhdev Singh Brar said Ramandeep Kaur of Assi Kalan village got married to Banti of Kila Raipur village a few years ago. Banti, a tractor driver working at a cooperative society of the village, told the police that his wife committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan when he was away last evening. However, the police became suspicious. The examination of the body of the deceased suggested that she was assaulted before being hanged. Beant Singh, brother of the deceased, said Ramandeep had apprehended threat to her life. He said Banti mercilessly killed his sister and tried to misguide the police.  The SHO said a case under Section 302 of the IPC has been registered against the accused, who was yet to be arrested.  The identity of other accomplice, if any, is yet to be ascertained.
