Mystery shrouds PAU student’s disappearance from hostel

LUDHIANA: A student of Punjab Agricultural University here has gone missing under mysterious circumstances. The police are on their toes to trace him after his car was recovered from the parking lot of the university.

A student of Punjab Agricultural University here has gone missing under mysterious circumstances. The police are on their toes to trace him after his car was recovered from the parking lot of the university.

The PAU police have registered a case under Section 346 of the IPC against unknown persons. The father of the missing boy, Amaninder, is a bank cashier and mother a teacher.

According to information, a student of BA Nutrition and Dietetic (final year), Amaninder Singh, who lives at Swaddi Mullapur, went missing on the night of February 18 from the PAU Hostel No. 4.

His friends told The Tribune that Amaninder was staying in Hostel No. 1. On the night of February 18, he slept in Hotel No. 4 where his juniors lived.

“Around 4.30 am on February 19 when his two friends woke up, they found Amaninder missing from the room.  They tried to call on his phone number but nobody responded. Later, the phone went switched off. Even the last location of the phone was found near PAU Hostel No. 1,” his friend said.

The PAU authorities also launched their own probe and started checking footage of CCTV cameras installed on the premises of the university. On Tuesday evening, employees found the missing boy’s Alto car  parked near Gate No. 1. 

The PAU SHO Brij Mohan said the mobile of the victim was lying switched off. — TNS
