Two drivers get 2-year jail for killing biker

LUDHIANA: Judicial Magistrate Shivani Garg has convicted two bus drivers for rashly driving their vehicles which lead to death of Harjot Singh, a student near MBD mall in 2013.

Judicial Magistrate Shivani Garg has convicted two bus drivers for rashly driving their vehicles which lead to death of Harjot Singh, a student near MBD mall in 2013.

The accused bus drivers namely Parminder Singh and Pargat Singh were ordered to undergo imprisonment for two years each and pay a fine of Rs 8,000 each.

According to the prosecution, a case was registered on the statement of Inderpal Singh at Sarabha Nagar police station on January 24, 2013.

The complainant had submitted that he along with his friend was going to Mullanpur from Ludhiana. When he reached near MBD mall, he saw his nephew Harjot Singh travelling on a motorcycle. A bus driven by accused Parminder Singh hit the motorcycle from behind and the motorcyclist fell oon the ground.

A bus driven by accused Pargat Singh came from the opposite direction and crushed his nephew.

The complainant had submitted that the accident occurred due to rash and negligent driving of both the bus drivers.

During the trial, the accused pleaded innocence and claimed false implication but after appreciating the evidence on record, the court held them guilty.
