Khamano, July 19

The decision of charging parking fee has not gone down well with shopkeepers and residents of the Grain Market here. The Khamano market committee has recently started charging fee from people entering the Grain Market.

Annoyed residents said, “We are residing inside the market committee area, why we should pay parking fee.”

Rajinderpal Sharma, Balwinder Singh Billu, Baljinder Singh Nokwal and others alleged that their business was suffering because of this decision.

Meanwhile, the Bharti Kisan Union, Ekta Sidhupur, has decided to oppose this decision and said they would give a memorandum to the Khamano SDM in this regard. BKU members led by Block Khamano President Karnail Singh Jatana said they would not allow this anti-people decision to implement as farmers, shopkeepers and residents of the area would suffer because of this.

However, contractor Balveer Singh claimed that the decision was taken by the state government and they would not charge any fee from farmers and residents and shopkeepers of the area.
