Ludhiana, February 6
On the third day of the National Road Safety Week, the city traffic police held an interactive session with students at SCD Government College for Boys, here on Wednesday.
ADCP Sukhpal Singh Brar and ACP Gurdev Singh were accorded a warm welcome by Principal Dr Dharam Singh Sandhu.
Students exchanged views on road safety with the traffic policemen and also suggested them ways to improve traffic in the city.
Sukhpal Singh inspired the students and advised them to work hard and be disciplined in life.
Brar encouraged the students to follow the traffic rules and said by adhering to the rules, one couldn’t only save his/her life but also save the lives of others.
The ADCP also encouraged the students to help the road accident victims if they notice anyone asking for help.
When students raised the issue that by helping the accident victims, they might also be harassed by the police, the ADCP said as per the Supreme Court orders, the police cannot harass any person who gives first aid to road accident victim or takes him to a hospital.
Rather the police now awards Bhai Ghanayia Certificate to such persons. In the recent time, several such certificates were given to persons who helped accident victims.
ACP Gurdev Singh said students must take responsibility of their lives and they should not take an escape route.
“Since learning is a life-long process, we must set high aims in life and road safety is everyone’s responsibility,” the ACP added.
Tomorrow, the police are holding a special interaction with students of KVM School where senior police officials will take part.
