MANDI AHMEDGARH: As many as 500 needy members of various sections of society were provided goods, articles and equipment for making their life easy during a function held at MGMN Senior Secondary School by the Mundey Ahmedgarh Dey Welfare Club.

Mandi Ahmedgarh, January 21

As many as 500 needy members of various sections of society were provided goods, articles and equipment for making their life easy during a function held at MGMN Senior Secondary School by the Mundey Ahmedgarh Dey Welfare Club.

Rakesh Garg presided over the function and legislator Surjit Singh Dhiman was the chief guest. SSP Ludhiana (Rural) Varinder Singh Brar and Chairman Sidh Sulakhan Sewa Society Jatinder Sharma Happy were the guests of honor. SDM Ahmedgarh Dr Poonam Preet Kaur inaugurated the event by lighting ceremonial lamp.

Bipan Sethi, convener of the event said the organisation had been helping poor and needy families by providing free ration and other goods of daily use. While 150 families were provided ration, sewing machines, blankets and woolens, over 350 differently-abled persons were provided tricycles (58), wheelchairs (27), crutches (70), walking sticks (20), hearing aids (86) and smart-phones on the occasion. The organisers felicitated the outstanding performers in various fields, including students, teachers and social workers.

Sethi said a camp had earlier been held for the identification and measurement of the size of equipment required by them. The aides were provided by the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India.

Appreciating the gesture shown by the organisation, speakers including MLA Surjit Dhiman, SSP Varinder Brar and Jatinder Sharma Happy expressed hope that beneficiaries would utilize their services for upgrading their standard of living by making use of the materials and equipment.
