The status of a martyr, a road and college in his memory as well as the promise to pay off home and education loans are among the many assurances given to the grieving family members of slain Syana Station House Officer Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh during their meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday.

Coming out after their meeting with Yogi, the martyred policeman’s son Shrey said they had been assured of justice.

Later, the family, including widow Rajni, sister Manisha and sons Shrey and Abhishek remained present as DGP OP Singh and minister in-charge of Etah Atul Garg spoke to reporters about the interaction. The DGP said the family spoke at length about their demand for justice and other problems.

“CM Yogi has promised to pay off their pending home and education loan, which is around Rs 25 to Rs 30 lakh…The Rs 10 lakh earlier announced for the parents of the martyred policeman will also be given to the family as his parents are no more. As such, the family will be given Rs 50 lakh,” he said.

The DGP said while one son was coaching to join the civil services, the other was studying to become a lawyer.

The Inspector was killed brutally while on duty allegedly by a Bajrang Dal mob in Bulandshahr four days ago. The family and villagers had been angry and were not allowing the cremation to take place on December 4 at their ancestral village of Taregawan in Etah demanding the presence of CM Yogi.
