New Delhi, September 4

In an embarrassment for the ruling BJP, its MP from Arunachal Pradesh (East), Tapir Gao, claimed the Chinese army made an intrusion into the far-eastern part of the state and laid a wooden bridge to cross a mountain stream.

The Indian Army has denied the claim.

Gao uploaded a post on Facebook and then deleted it.

The Army spokesperson in Delhi said, “There has been no such incursion.”

The area being referred to in the media report is called “fish-tail”. There is differing perception of the alignment of the Line of Actual Control (LAC). During the monsoon whenever streams are in spate, temporary bridges are constructed by the patrols for their movement.

“It is reiterated there is no permanent presence of either Chinese soldiers or civilians in the area,” said the Army spokesperson.
