The Congress’s clearance to the appointment of Kamal Nath as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister despite his alleged involvement in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, rocked the second day of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha session here on Friday.

After the SAD leader took Kamal Nath’s name, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Brahm Mohindra claimed that the Congress veteran had no hand in the 1984 riots. He flashed his mobile phone showing a picture of Parkash Singh Badal felicitating Kamal Nath.

Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh said it was wrong to take Kamal Nath’s name and that they should let law take its own course. He said for 10 years no one took Kamal Nath’s name.

SAD chief Sukhbir Badal credited the Narendra Modi government for giving justice to the victims of the 1984 riots.  The issue saw the treasury benches engage in a heated argument with the opposition.

SAD MLAs staged a walkout while raising slogans against Kamal Nath, Sajjan kumar and Jagdish Tytler.
