The Anti-Narcotics Cell along with BSF officials on Tuesday seized four packets of heroin weighing 2.25 kg from an area close to the Mabboke border outpost along the Indo-Pakistan border. MS Chinna, IG, Ferozepur Range, said based on specific information, the Anti Narcotics Cell, headed by Inspector Pushpinder Singh, carried out a search operation during which a consignment of heroin worth about Rs 11.5 crore in the international market was seized. The IG said the packets had been thrown inside the Indian territory over the barbed wire fencing by Pakistani smugglers. Further investigations are on to nab the drug peddlers involved in this incident.

3 drug peddlers held

Fatehgarh Sahib: The district police claimed to have recovered about 400 gm of heroin and arrested three peddlers including a foreign national. The kingpin of the drug racket is at large. The police also recovered a Ford Figo car, which belongs to the son of a union leader of anganwari workers. He claimed that an advocate had taken his car for a family function. While addressing mediapersons here on Tuesday, SSP Amneet Kondal said the CIA staff had put up a naka and during the checking of a Ford Figo car, the police seized 98 gm of heroin and arrested two youths identified as Kuldeep Singh and Rajat. The SSP said during their interrogation, they revealed that they were couriers and had bought the consignment from John in Delhi for Rs 1.5 lakh. The SSP said police constituted two parties and raided the residence of John near the Dwarka Metro station in Delhi and arrested him. They seized 300 gm of heroin from him and brought him to Fatehgarh Sahib. During the interrogation, he said he hailed from Africa and admitted that he had been supplying heroin regularly to the arrested youths.
