Harpreet Singh Sonu, a resident of Bua Nangli village in Rajasansi, committed suicide by shooting himself with his licensed weapon here on Wednesday.

He is the brother-in-law (sister’s husband) of Amritsar Congress MP Gurjit Aujla.

The deceased has left a suicide note blaming over a dozen people, including farmers, for his taking the extreme step.

SSP Amritsar (rural) Parampal Singh said the investigations were under way and appropriate action would be taken on the basis of the suicide note and the statements of the family.

In his suicide note, Sonu alleged that Mandeepak Singh of Dalam village had bungled Rs 90 lakh while Varun Sachdeva of Punjabi Bagh had grabbed his flat.

He also named 12 farmers for not returning his money. He said the names and amounts borrowed by these farmers were written in the ledger book.
