Sidhu honoured at Farid Mela

FARIDKOT: Cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and Paramjit Singh, a scooter mechanic from Nabha, were honoured on the concluding day of the five-day Baba Farid Mela here today.



Faridkot, September 23

Cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and Paramjit Singh, a scooter mechanic from Nabha, were honoured on the concluding day of the five-day Baba Farid Mela here today.

Sidhu received the Baba Farid Award for Honesty. Paramjit, who has been taking road accident victims to hospital for the past 20 years and has saved over 400 lives so far, got the Bhagat Puran Singh Award for Humanity, said Inderjit Singh Khalsa, chairman of the Baba Farad Society.

The society introduced the Cleanliness Drive Award, which was given to Amritsar-based advocate LM Lalwani.

All awardees were given Rs 1 lakh each at a congregation at Tilla Baba Farid here today. The awards were presented by Bibi Inderjit Kaur, chief sewadar, Bhagat Puran Singh, Pingalwara, Amritsar, Mahant Kahan Singh Seva Panthi Sampardai and Inderjit Singh Khalsa. Sidhu announced to donate the entire award money and added Rs 1 lakh from his pocket for the treatment of Sufi singer Idu Sharif. — TNS
