Former DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK today made a surprise visit to the Golden Temple and later he shared dais with SAD leader and MLA Bikram Singh Majithia during the Operation Bluestar anniversary function organised by the Damdami Taksal at its headquarters in Chowk Mehta, near Amritsar.

The expelled SAD leader said he came to attend the occasion while taking it as his moral responsibility as a ‘true’ Sikh. He opined that the SAD leadership, too, should have been present on the occasion at the Golden Temple.

He said the Badal family might have won the seats, but the political graph of the party had nosedived. The time was not far when its alliance partner BJP would come in Punjab solo.

“Who could have imagined that the SAD would lose the Panthic seats of Khadoor Sahib, Anandpur Sahib and Faridkot during the parliamentary elections? I believe that the people of Punjab have not rejected the SAD, but the Badal family, which was contended with just two seats and that too was there due to BJP’s Modi wave. The SAD has adopted ‘family agenda’ while compromising on the Panthic agenda, which was the core base of the SAD. Be it Lok Sabha, Vidhan Sabha or even panchayat polls, the SAD tasted defeat. Its partner BJP will certainly come out as an independent party in Punjab soon. I have no regrets about not being part of the SAD,” he said.
