Jajodia, Kowli in dogfight, BI on verge of collapse

NEW DELHI: The war of words within the Boxing India (BI) over the unprofessional working culture has intensified with president Sandeep Jajodia and secretary general Jay Kowli busy trading punches at each other, without bothering to realise that it would again lead to an uncertain future for the country’s boxers in the crucial Olympic qualifying year.

The war of words within the Boxing India (BI) over the unprofessional working culture has intensified with president Sandeep Jajodia and secretary general Jay Kowli busy trading punches at each other, without bothering to realise that it would again lead to an uncertain future for the country’s boxers in the crucial Olympic qualifying year.

At a time when the two should be working out the modalities to counter the ‘No Confidence Motion’ brought against them by the IOA-backed rival faction, Jajodia and Kowli are engaged in levelling serious accusations through an exchange of emails, including one where Jajodia has accused his own secretary general of illegally using his digital signature on the ASBC Election Candidate Registration Form.

Jajodia has accused his close aide of misleading the president on convening a Special General Meeting (SGM), non-compliance of selection procedure to appoint a team manager for AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championship at Jeju Island, dropping Sweety and Kavita from the above mentioned event, formation of various commissions without the knowledge of the president and EC members, mischievous misrepresentation of the ‘Minutes of the EC Meeting’ held in Nagpur and arbitrary selection of boxers at First Doha International Boxing Tournament.

“As the secretary general, it was your duty to consult with the president and the EC members/all relevant state units on all important actions, but unfortunately you did not do so,” Jajodia wrote to Kowli.

Kowli, the president of Maharashtra Boxing Association, countered: “I have been sending you a whole lot of feedback from my end, but I have hardly got any response from your end. I have been handling BI affairs alone with no response from your end.”
