Passports for Women and Children



THE following press communiqué dated the 26th April has been issued by the Punjab Government:—“It is hereby notified for general information that the following rules regarding the grant of passports for women and children from India to the United Kingdom and Europe are being acted on:—(1) Passports will not be granted for women and children through danger zones, except in very urgent classes (such as war work) or unless exceptionally urgent business, health or domestic reasons can be shown. (2) Except in cases of great emergency permission to travel through the Mediterranean will not be given at present, and generally, when an alternative offers, the safer route should be adopted. With reference to rule (1) it is not sufficient that the applicant should state that she hopes to obtain war work.
