Plague in India

THOSE who are anxious about the steady increase of plague in Lahore will be interested to learn from a memorandum issued by the Sanitary Commissioner with the Government of India in which he expresses concern for the Punjab and the western parts of the United Provinces. He states that in no year since 1904 was plague mortality in India in October so heavy as now. There are approximately 42,000 deaths reported as compared with 23,000 last year in the same month. Plague mortality in India only begins to rise in the month and continues to rise till about April and then rapidly declines. But the figures for the very first month this year indicate a black outlook-unless the situation in the Punjab changes.
