Karachi: Terror group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi’s Balochistan chief, who was involved in the killings of over 100 members of the Hazara Shia community as well as police personnel, was killed along with two would-be suicide bombers on Thursday during a raid in southwest Pakistan, the military said.

Intelligence was also killed in the encounter that left four other soldiers injured, two of whom are said to be in critical condition, said a statement issued by the ISPR, Pakistan Army's media wing. PTI

Paraguay embassy in Jerusalem next week

Asuncion: The Paraguay’s government says President Horacio Cartes will open the country’s new embassy to Israel in Jerusalem on Tuesday, following similar steps by the United States and Guatemala. Government spokesman Mariano Mercado says Cartes will leave for the trip on Saturday. The decision to move the embassy to Jerusalem has been controversial in Paraguay. It comes less than two months before Mario Abdo Benitez replaces Cartes, and the president-elect has said he wasn’t consulted. AP

Washington: Donald Trump marked the one-year anniversary of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into ties between the president’s campaign team and Russia with a trademark tweet, reiterating “there is still No Collusion”. “Congratulations America, we are now into the second year of the greatest Witch Hunt in American History...and there is still No Collusion and No Obstruction,” Trump tweeted. He has repeatedly insisted he's the target of a ‘witch hunt’ and denied any collusion between Team Trump and Moscow. AFP

100 ancient tombs discovered in Lhasa

Beijing: More than 100 ancient tombs have been discovered in Lhasa, capital of Tibet, according to the regional cultural protection institute. Archaeologists have found the tombs late last year during the excavation of a graveyard covering more than 200,000 square metres in Quxu County, said Norbu Tashi, a researcher at the institute. Due to centuries of erosion by rain and the impact of human activities, the tombs show signs of damage to various degrees, according to archaeologists. PTI
