In a suspected case of liquor overdose death, the police recovered the body of a young migrant labourer from near a railway park of Tapa city on Monday. The police have registered a case and started further investigation.

As per information, residents of surrounding areas of the park saw a man lying in their street. Initially, they thought that he was lying due to being drunk. But when he did not move even after repeated efforts of residents, they called the police, which found him dead.

Later, the victim was identified as Ramu from Bihar, who worked as a labourer and used to drink during the daytime. The body was shifted to the Barnala Civil Hospital for a postmortem while the police are suspecting it to be a case of death due to liquor overdose.

“Though the exact reason of the death could be ascertained only after a post-mortem report, but he seems to have died due to overdose of liquor as area residents have confirmed that they saw him drunk even during the daytime. We are conducting further investigation,” said ASI Bhola Singh, who is investigating the case.
