Chandigarh, January 11

Many parts of Punjab and Haryana woke up to a sunny morning on Saturday even as cold wave conditions persisted in most parts of the states.

The Union Territory of Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, recorded its minimum temperature at 4.8 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal, an official of the Meteorological Department said.

Among other places in Punjab, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala recorded their respective lows at 5.1, 6.1 and 5 degrees Celsius.

Pathankot, Adampur, Halwara, Bathinda, Faridkot and Gurdaspur shivered at 4, 2.1, 3.7, 3.7, 4.6 and 3 degrees Celsius respectively.

In Haryana, Ambala and Hisar recorded their respective minimum temperature at 5.1 degrees Celsius and 4.2 degrees Celsius, up to three degrees below normal.

Karnal, Narnaul, Rohtak, Bhiwani and Sirsa experienced cold wave conditions at 3.8, 4.7, 5.1, 6.1 and 6.5 degrees Celsius respectively, up to three degrees below normal.

Fog was witnessed at a few places, including Ludhiana. — PTI
