Chandigarh, September 6
The city will receive 2.95 lakh vaccine doses in September. The vaccine will be provided in three batches, each containing 98,600 doses.
Dr Amandeep Kang, Director, Health Services, Chandigarh, said, “This is the first time that Chandigarh is going to receive doses in large numbers. We used to get a batch of 20,000 doses only and thus it was difficult for us to plan long term. Now, with over 98,000 doses, we can plan ahead for a week.”
In August, Chandigarh had received 2,79,160 doses, while 2,19,160 doses were given by the Centre in July.
Around 89,140 doses were given to the UT in June.
The city has vaccinated 8,31,313 people with the first dose, which translates into 113.91 per cent, while 3,32,531 people have received both doses. The coverage of the second dose stands at 45.5 per cent.
So far, Chandigarh has administered 11,63,844 vaccine doses (first and second dose).
