Outdated billboard

An outdated bill board has still been installed at the Sector 7-8-17-18 roundabout in Panchkula.

An outdated bill board has still been installed at the Sector 7-8-17-18 roundabout in Panchkula. It relates to the Haryana state Assembly elections that took place on October 21. Incidentally, yet another bill board 'highlighting and celebrating' the elevation of city MLA as the Speaker of the Assembly also continues to be installed at this spot.

The authorities concerned did not bother to remove them till date.

Need for traffic cops near varsity

This is with respect to "Strict traffic laws need of the hour, says father of girl who died in mishap" published in Chandigarh Tribune (Patiala section) on November 30. It is observed that the traffic police are usually found missing from dangerous spots. We have never seen any traffic policeman at the crossing before the overbridge near Punjabi University, Patiala, which has a sudden turn towards the double gate for entering and leaving the urban estate phase-1. Vehicles coming from Chandigarh and Rajpura are usually speeding and most of them carelessly pass the red light. A traffic policeman should be present at this spot also.

Soaring onion prices

The Administration has miserably failed to check onion prices. For the past couple of months, the retail price of onion across the nation has been raised to nearly Rs 100 a kilogram. Other vegetables such as tomatoes, peas, garlic and ginger share the same fate. In the absence of any check by the UT Administration, people are suffering.  Even after the Union Government banned export and imposed nationwide stock limit on traders, prices have been rising astronomically.  The UT Administration should try to dismantle the hidden onion cartels.
