Chandigarh, February 5
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice of motion to Panjab University on a petition alleging violation of University Grants Commission (UGC) directions in the recruitment process for assistant professors. The notice by Justice Sanjay Vashisth came on a petition filed against the university by Dr Sandeep Kumar.
His counsel Gurinder Singh Dhot, among other things, contended that an advertisement dated November 15, 2023, by the university for filling the posts of 18 assistant professors in different teaching departments was against directions dated October 19, 2020, issued by the UGC and instructions dated July 2, 1997, issued by the respondent-Union Government as “the roster register of reservation had not been followed”. The case will now come up for further hearing on March 11.
