Report on absenteeism sent to Chief Secy

AMRITSAR: The joint secretary of the Vigilance Bureau has sent its report to the Chief Secretary, Punjab, regarding the surprise check conducted at the MC office in which several employees were found absent and or coming late.

The joint secretary of the Vigilance Bureau has sent its report to the Chief Secretary, Punjab, regarding the surprise check conducted at the MC office in which several employees were found absent and or coming late.

The surprise check was conducted in December 2017 in which 177 officials and employees of the MC were found absent or coming late. Earlier, Vigilance officials had asked the officials and employees to come up with the reason behind their absence or late reporting.

It is worth mentioning here that a team of the Vigilance Bureau, Amritsar, led by then DSP Navjot Singh, had conducted a surprise check at the MC office on December 21, 2017. The team collected all the attendance registers and stood at the gate of the office.

Vigilance officials found that out of 13 senior officials, seven were absent and two came late after the scheduled time, i.e 9.15 am. Meanwhile, out of 458 employees, nine were absent and 159 came late.

Now, the Chief Secretary will take the action against the officials and employees.
