Woman nabbed with abducted child

The Cantonment police have arrested a woman for allegedly kidnapping a one-year-old boy. She has been identified as Neelam, a resident of Guru Nanak Pura in Kot Khalsa. The child has been recovered and the police are trying to locate his parents.

Rattanjit Singh, investigating officer, said the initial probe indicated that she had abducted the child from a slum area. She was nabbed following a tip-off. The police received a specific input that she had kidnapped the child and was coming to Bhagwan Balmik Chowk on Ram Tirath road to sell the baby. When the accused was intercepted, she could not give satisfactory answer about the infant. The police have registered a case. — TNS
