Mentally challenged gives birth to girl

KHARAR:A mentally challenged woman, who was admitted to Prabh Aasra, a home for helpless and mentally retarded, in Padiala village near Kurali on March 10 this year, gave birth to a baby girl.

A mentally challenged woman, who was admitted to Prabh Aasra, a home for helpless and mentally retarded, in Padiala village near Kurali on March 10 this year, gave birth to a baby girl.

The mother and the child are taken care of by the management at Prabh Aasra.

Bibi Rajinder Kaur Padiala, chief manager of the institute, said the 30-year-old woman, Rashida, was admitted to the institution by the Ropar police. She was upset at that time and was noticed by the police near Ghanola village.

She was taken to the Civil Hospital, Phase VI, Mohali, where doctors found that she was pregnant. She said the woman did not provide any information about her. The Prabh Ashra management took care of the woman and specials steps were taken for her. Now, she has given birth to a girl child at the Civil Hospital in Kharar.

While talking to Chandigarh Tribune, Bibi Rajinder Kaur Padiala said special arrangements had been made to provide care to the mother and the newborn. — OC
