The District Legal Services Authority organised a workshop titled “Living in the Shadow” at Senior Secondary School in Pinjore here to create awareness about the scheme for relief and rehabilitation of women acid victims.
Presiding over the function, Vivek Goyal, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, said now acid attack victims would be given Rs 8,000 per month as financial assistance.
He said after witnessing the incidents of acid attack in the country, the Haryana Government had implemented the scheme in 2013. Later, the government also made amendments to the scheme. Under the scheme, acid attack victims were being provided free medical treatment immediately and help for their rehabilitation.
Goyal said technical education would be provided whenever any incident of acid attack comes to the fore so that the victim could spend life in a better way.
He also directed officials of the Health Department to provide better medical facility to the victims and make a provision for their counselling.
He said they should also provide the list of hospitals to the District Legal Services Authority so medical treatment could be provided to acid attack victims.
