Twin titles for Tender Heart

Hosts Tender Heart School, Sector 33, clinched twin titles in the ongoing ICSE Inter-School Table Tennis Tournament here on Thursday.  

The hosts blanked Carmel Convent School, Nahan, 3-0 to win the junior title, while they humbled Strawberry Fields, Sector 26, 3-1 in the finals of the senior category.

Vishal Garg downed Akshay 11-7 11-8 to put Tender Heart 1-0 up against Carmel Convent. Teetiksha Goel rallied from a game down to overcome Maurish 10-12 11-7 11-7, while Shaurya drubbed Anant 11-5 11-3 to help the hosts beat the Nahan school 3-0.  

St Stephen’s School, Sector 45, registered a 3-1 win over St Xavier’s School, Panchkula, to finish third. 

In the senior category, Vaibhav got the hosts off to a decent start with a convincing 11-4 11-6 win over Strawberry Fields’ Paavna. However, Daksh beat Japneet 12-10 12-10 in the next match to help the visitors draw level. 

Ekambir then got rid of Yatharth 11-2 11-6 to push Tender Heart back into the lead, while Vaibhav beat Daksh 12-10 11-8 to complete a 3-1 win for the hosts.  

St. Xavier’s School, Sector 44, overcame St Stephen’s School, Sector 45, 3-2 to bag the third position.

The individual events will be played on Friday.
