Kangra, October 26
Resentment prevails among residents of Kangra over the delay in the inauguration of a Rs 4-crore amusement park which was completed in the town nearly a year back.
The amusement park on the Zamanabad road, spread over 16 kanals and popularly known as ‘Mata Ka Bagh’, has been funded by Asian Development Bank.
Ashok Kumar, a retired scientist, said the park would have been a major attraction for pilgrims, tourists and local residents had it been inaugurated when it was completed.
The amusement park is having fountains with classic lights, a cafeteria, toilet blocks, parking, amphitheatre, and an open area for walking. Meanwhile, the company has allowed fountains and lights to function to keep things in order and a lot of people desire to visit the park at that time.
Pawan Kajal, Congress MLA from Kangra, alleged that the BJP government was victimising the constituency as it was represented by the Congress and a number of projects in the town were initiated by it. He said the government was making the town a victim of political vendetta. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was in the town on September 2. He inaugurated two delayed projects but not the amusement park, Kajal added.
