New Delhi, February 14

Overconfidence and mishandling of tricky issues like AAP government’s freebies and anti-citizenship protests at Shaheen Bagh are believed to be some of the reasons pinned down by the state BJP leadership for their humiliating loss in the recently concluded Delhi elections.

The party’s unit today held a series of meetings, attended by state president Manoj Tiwari, national general secretaries Arun Singh and Anil Jain and Delhi secretary (organisation) Siddharthan, candidates, councilors and local leaders, to review the debacle.

It was observed the party fought the February 8 elections with full strength and reached voters across the National Capital and that in future needed to be prepared for bipolar contests not just in Delhi but in all elections scheduled henceforth.

According to initial feedback, the party did not handle properly Arvind Kejriwal government’s freebies and Shaheen Bagh issue. Yesterday, Tiwari met BJP president JP Nadda and others to discuss the outcome.
