Gurugram: 4 held for cow smuggling

A cow protection team chased two vehicles of smugglers for 2 km and caught four persons from near Panchgaon on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) expressway today.

The team rescued 26 animals and three dead animals from two vehicles of the smugglers. A pistol was also recovered from them. An FIR was lodged at the Bilaspur police station and cops began investigating the matter.

According to the complaint filed by Sahil, a resident of Mohammadpur Jharsa village and associated with the Bajrang Dal and Gau Raksha Dal, information was received that cattle smugglers in a truck and Tata 407 would come from the Delhi side on the KMP and go towards Palwal.

“On getting the information, a naka was set up and the accused arrested.

The police reached on spot and took the accused in custody. The accused were identified as Shaukeen, Mushtaq, residents of Ali Meo village, Imran, a resident of Satputiyaka village, and Aarif, a resident of Machroli village in Nuh district.

The FIR was registered under Sections 429 (mischief by maiming or killing cattle) of the IPC, Sections 11, 13 (1), 13 (2) of the Animal Cruelty Act and Section 25-54-59 of the Arms Act at the Bilaspur police station.
