An amount of Rs 767.33 crore has been earmarked for the development and restructuring of the railway infrastructure in Faridabad and Palwal districts during the current and the upcoming financial year.
The package has been sanctioned under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme launched by the Centre. Local MP and Union Minister of State of Power and Heavy Industries Krishan Pal Gurjar was the chief guest on the occasion as PM Narendra Modi virtual inaugurated the development project at Ballabhgarh on Monday.
Of these funds, Rs 262 crore has been earmarked for the undergoing project to redesign and redevelop the railway station in Faridabad city. An amount of Rs 376.11 crore will be spent on the construction of railway overbridges (ROBs) and underpasses in the two districts. Funds to the tune of Rs 129.22 crore have been proposed to be spent on reconstruction and renovation the railway stations in the districts.
An official said some of the projects had already been started while work on others was expected to start soon. He said the Ballabhgarh railway station has been allocated an amount of Rs 48.95 crore — Rs 18.50 crore for the renovation of the platform, Rs 23 crore for the construction of foot overbridge (FOB), Rs 3.50 crore for covering shelter at platform and Rs 3.95 crore for miscellaneous works to provide various facilities to commuters.
The New Town Railway station will get Rs 34.88 crore. The building here will be renovated at a cost of Rs 15 crore while the FOB will be constructed for Rs 13 crore.
The Palwal railway station will be renovated against the cost of Rs 45.39 crore under the project. Here, the station will be upgraded at a cost of Rs 15.25 crore and the FOB will be constructed at a cost of Rs 22.59 crore. Besides, Rs 4.05 crore will be spent on enhancing related public facilities.
The government has also released an amount of Rs 376.11 crore for the construction of as many as 10 ROBs in the districts. The newly constructed ROBs will replace the existing surface railway crossings at Sarai (estimated to cost Rs 69.06 crore), Mujesar (Rs 51.38 crore), Seekri-Pyala road (Rs 35.67 crore), Bhagola to Janoli road (Rs 36.34 crore), Banchari-Dakora road (Rs 43.90 crore), Aurangabad-Deeghot road (Rs 43.10 crore), Bamnikhera-Hassanpur road (Rs 43.88 crore), Palwal to Rasoolpur road (Rs 47.78 crore).
Besides, two road overbridges to be constructed on the national highway at Mitrol and Mundkati village of Palwal district have been proposed. The construction of these vehicle underpasses is estimated to cost Rs 90 crore.
