For the BSP, which snapped ties with the INLD to forge alliance with Raj Kumar Saini’s LSP on Saturday, this was its fourth alliance in the past two decades. But none of the earlier three alliances lasted even for a year. The party entered into an alliance with the INLD in 1998, but it ended within months. In 2009, the BSP forged a pact with Kuldeep Bishnoi’s Haryana Janhit Congress, but the tie-up ended even before the Assembly polls. Last year, the party again entered into an understanding with the INLD on April 18, but this time too, the tie-up ended in less than 10 months. It is yet to be seen how long the LSP-BSP alliance lasts. — TNS
