Amid speculations regarding seat sharing with the INDIA alliance partner AAP in Haryana, senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the Congress would independently contest on all 10 seats and was confident of securing victory on all of these. “The Congress is fully prepared for both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. It will contest on all 10 Lok Sabha seats and will win all of these,” said Hooda, who was in the city to attend several social prorgammes.

While interacting with mediapersons, Hooda said the Congress enjoyed the support of all 36 communities of the society across the state, and expressed confidence that it would form the government in the Assembly elections.

Hooda ignored a question asked about the Congress yatra by SRK. However, when told specifically that party leaders Kumari Selja, Randeep Surjewala and Kiran Choudhary were undertaking the yatra, he said all party leaders were working for the party.

He even took a dig at Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and said since the elections were approaching, he had become active in his constituency.

On being asked about Karnal’s MP Sanjay Bhatia’s statement that Hooda was working for his son, Hooda said such remarks were baseless. On questioning by the ED, Hooda said they had the right to ask questions and he was ready to answer. He called the Interim Budget disappointing and said it had nothing for the farmers, women and youth.

Hooda said like the Union Budget, he did not have any hope from the budget of the BJP-JJP government in Haryana, because the state government did not seem to be doing anything else except increasing the debt on the state.

Hooda said this time, the government had deliberately deprived about three lakh farmers of seven districts falling in Cluster-2 from crop insurance. “The government did not hand over the responsibility to any company to insure the districts of Ambala, Karnal, Sonepat, Hisar, Jind, Mahendragarh and Gurugram in Cluster-2,” he stated.

Responding to the Chandigarh Mayor election, Hooda said any irregularity in the electoral process would prove fatal for the democracy.
